As one of the earliest initiators of the contemporary Mural Renaissance in the United States, my earliest work and study finds its roots in the Chicago barrios, and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have studied and lived in Mexico and became close to the work of the Great Mexican Movement. During this period I befriended and studied the works of such renowned maestros as David Alfaro Siqueiros, Jose Chavez Morado, Jose Luis Soto , Arnold Belkin and Benito Messeguer. My work has evolved directing and/or executing more than one hundred murals in the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe. Simultaneously I have been an instructor and lecturer at various art institutions and universities, i.e. The Art Institute of Chicago, Stanford University, The University of California at Berkeley, La Academia San Carlos in Mexico City, Dartington College of Art in Devon, Great Britain and the Chelsea School of Art in London, England. Meanwhile organizing numerous public arts projects both here and abroad. Currently, I am an Instructor at Laney College in Oakland Calif. and The California College of the Arts also in Oakland.
